ReedPop has announced the return of the MCM Scholarship ahead of October’s MCM Comic Con in London. Now in its second year, the scholarship continues to offer a unique opportunity for emerging talent at the convention.

This scholarship is part of Reedpop’s wider mission to uplift the next generation of creatives with a focus on supporting individuals from working class and underrepresented backgrounds, by removing barriers and creating meaningful connections within creative industries.

The winner of the MCM Scholarship will receive:

    • Free entry to MCM Comic Con across all three days of the expo
    • A three night stay near Excel London
    • A £500 cash prize
    • A bespoke itinerary designed around their career goals

Applications for the MCM Scholarship are open on Thursday 4th September, and close on Monday 29th September. Those with a passion for comics, art, gaming, literature, acting and more are encouraged to apply. Winners will be chosen based on the strength of their application and the passion displayed for their chosen field.

To win the MCM Scholarship, all applicants are encouraged to share how they are currently involved in their chosen creative field, outline their long-term career goals and explain how winning the scholarship will impact their journey. If relevant, applicants are also encouraged to share any relevant portfolio work.

Take a look at the work of previous winners in the player below:

    May’s winners included:

    • Muminah Koleoso
      • Muminah is an aspiring author and poet based in Scotland, who dreams of becoming a widely-read science fiction and fantasy author. Through her work, she has amplified underrepresented voices and pushed genre boundaries, blurring the lines between sci-fi and poetry. She used the MCM Scholarship to help her build a likeminded literary community and host workshops for other marginalised creatives.
    • Sudipta Patra
      • Sudipta is an up-and-coming comic book illustrator and children’s author who travelled from Northern Ireland to attend MCM Comic Con. The MCM Scholarship helped kickstart his goal of establishing a career as an illustrator and storyteller across comics, children’s books and animation.
    • Ash Norman
      • Ash is an aspiring video game concept artist working toward a full-time career at an independent game studio. Through the MCM Scholarship, they networked with video game industry professionals at MCM Comic Con and leveled up their artistry across gaming, music videos, film, and comics.

MCM Comic Con returns to Excel London from Friday 24 October to Sunday 26 October, and will offer fans a chance to attend insightful panels, visit the careers fair, meet their favourite writers and celebrity guests, participate in writing workshops hosted by prominent authors and more.

Keep an eye on the official MCM Comic Conpages for the latest announcements as ReedPop reveals more exciting guests, panels and activities in the lead up to MCM Comic Con October.
