Hammer Films has announced plans to release a brand-new 2K restoration of the rarely seen post-war gothic horror, Daughter of Darkness. The film, originally released in 1948, will be available for the first time anywhere in the world as part of the Hammer Presents collection of expertly curated British horror films. Pre-orders for the new release are now open through Hammer’s official website.
A bold and provocative film that challenged the conventions of British cinema in 1948, with themes that remain relevant today, Daughter of Darkness has been painstakingly restored by Hammer from 2K scans made from the original film negatives and is now available with exclusive new extras.
Directed by Lance Comfort, the film stars renowned Irish actor Siobhán McKenna who gives an eerie and compelling performance as a troubled young woman with murderous, psychotic impulses in this transgressive horror.
