Following up on the initial announcement of the landmark uncensored restoration coming to home formats, Hammer Films and John Gore Studios have confirmed that the 1958 horror masterpiece Dracula is returning to the big screen across the UK. Starting from the 16th October until the 1st November, over 100 cinemas nationwide will screen the newly restored 4K version of the classic, offering fans the ultimate theatrical experience for the Halloween season.

This long-lost Director’s Cut features footage previously thought missing for more than six decades, originally seen only during the film’s 1958 Japanese theatrical run. Painstakingly restored frame-by-frame by Hammer Films and Silver Salt Restoration in partnership with Warner Bros., the cinematic re-release presents Christopher Lee’s legendary Count and Peter Cushing’s definitive Van Helsing in pristine quality, accompanied by a brand-new 5.1 surround sound mix and an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the restoration process.
Directed by Terence Fisher and written by Jimmy Sangster, Dracula redefined the vampire archetype for generations with its visceral physicality, bold color palettes, and iconic score by James Bernard. Deemed too intense and sensual by censors upon its original release, this restored edition brings the studio’s foundational gothic vision back to picture houses in its most complete form yet.
Horror enthusiasts can find participating UK theaters and secure tickets ahead of the October 16th theatrical launch on the official Hammer Films website.
