Geoff Johns announces STARGIRL series for DC UNIVERSE

Stargirl

The Geoff Johns panel at todays San Diego Comic Con was not one to be missed. The writer/producer announced that his Mad Ghost production company will be bringing Stargirl to the DC Universe streaming service.

Whilst discussing his career and upcoming projects with DC Comics Chief Dan DiDio Johns talked about his love for the character. Stargirl was based upon Johns sister whom was killed in the TWA Flight 800 crash in 1996.

During the panel we got a first look at key art for the series:

In speaking with the crowd about the show Johns confirmed the other members of the Justice Society of America would also be part of the series. No airdate is confirmed with the series yet to be penned or go in to production.

Following the panel DC Comics released the first synopsis for the series as well as an official look at the series artwork:

STARGIRL follows High School sophomore Courtney Whitmore who inspires an unlikely group of young heroes to stop the villains of the past. This new DC Universe series reimagines Stargirl and the very first superhero team, the Justice Society of America, in a fun, exciting and unpredictable series premiering in 2019, produced by Warner Bros. Television, Mad Ghost Productions and Berlanti Productions.

Stargirl will premiere sometime in 2019 on the DC Universe streaming service.
