With the release of Blade Runner 2049 still five months away the marketing machine is not yet at full speed. Whilst summer blockbusters continue to flood the market with trailers and TV spots films due later in the year lie in waiting. Yesterday Warner Bros. (US) and Columbia Pictures (via Sony) released the films second trailer. Clocking in a little over two minutes this trailer packs a visual punch. To say it’s visually stunning is putting it mildly. Wonder Woman wasn’t the only superhero bringing some new footage to the MTV Movie & TV Awards. Sony/Marvel also brought the first official clip from Spider-Man: Homecoming. After releasing several short teasers yesterday the final trailer for Wonder Woman is here! Perhaps the most action packed of all the films trailers this one expands on a lot of scenes that have been teased in previous videos. Marvel Studios are once again celebrating as Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 has opened to the tune of $145m at the US box office. The film has grossed an average $33,368 in each of the 4,347 cinemas in which it was shown putting it 54% higher than the opening of the first film. Internationally the film is continuing to play well taking an estimated $124m in its second weekend. This takes its international total to $238m for a worldwide total of $428m after 13 days of release. The Hollywood Reporter is today reporting that after a $56.3m Friday at the domestic box office Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is on course for a $140m opening weekend. The film, directed by James Gunn, took an impressive $17m from Thursday night previews before heading in to a successful weekend. The films international box office total is currently sitting at $167m as of Thursday. It’s no secret that the cast and crew of Aquaman have been on Australia ready to start the films production.
