Today is the day! Wonder Woman is finally in cinemas across the UK from this morning. Yesterday we brought you the wonder-ful (get it?) news that Wonder Woman was proving to be a hit with film critics. Hovering between a score of 95% and 96% on Rotten Tomatoes the film was soaring above the rest of the DCEU and even the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Over the course of the day yesterday the positive reviews continued to roll. At the time of writing the film currently holds a 97% fresh rating based on 72 reviews. 70 of those reviews are classed as positive and only 2 as negative. Interesting news from the DCEU camp this morning. No we don’t mean those Wonder Woman reviews. Producer Charles Roven (The Dark Knight Trilogy, Justice League) has been discussing the setting for 2018’s Aquaman. “Aquaman will make reference [to Justice League]. There will be some reference of something that preceded Aquaman that will be in Aquaman. At 5am this morning UK time the review embargo for Wonder Woman finally lifted. For many fans the nervous wait to see how the critics would is finally over. The verdict? Whilst the DCEU rides high on the positive buzz of Wonder Woman its future has been dealt a blow this week. Director Doug Liman has departed from Justice League Dark. Variety reports that Liman exited the project over scheduling issues with his new Lionsgate production Chaos Walking which is set to star Daisy Ridley (Star Wars) and Tom Holland (Spider-Man: Homecoming). Liman signed on to the project in August of 2016 after exiting another comic book film. Gambit. We’ve got a little treat for Spidey fans out there with the release of not one but TWO new trailers for Spider-Man: Homecoming. Following the theme set with previous trailers there are both domestic and international versions of this third trailer. Both versions of the trailer focus more on the films main villain: Vulture. Sad news for film fans around the world today, particularly those fans of the DC Comics Extended Universe (DCEU). Director Zack Snyder has announced that he is stepping down from his remaining directorial duties on Justice League after the tragic loss of his daughter. Autumn Snyder passed away in March of 2017. Snyder kept the news secret from the press and continued working on Justice League until only recently.
