News on Suicide Squad 2 has been fairly lacking for the last few months. But in an article updating on what actor Will Smith is up to for the rest of the year confirms some new details on the films production.
With Margot Robbie shooting Birds of Prey early in 2019 we knew that Suicide Squad 2 would be shifting its production to later in the year. We also know that director Gavin O’Connor is taking over from David Ayer for the sequel.
The GWW has confirmed that Smith will next be filming the third entry in the Bad Boys franchise, Bad Boys for Life. After taking on the latest entry in the Michael Bay-produced action franchise Smith will re-team with David Ayer for a sequel to Netflix’s Bright.
Once production is completed on those movies Smith will finally move on to Suicide Squad 2. That film is set to enter production in “late-2019” with a script by David Bar Katz and Todd Stashwick.
