Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Saturday Morning Adventures #10 is published by IDW Publishing, written by Erik Burnham, illustrated by Dan Schoening, coloured by Luis Antonio Delgado and lettered by Ed Dukeshire.

Issue #10 is available 7th February 2024 either directly from IDW Publishing online or from your local comic book store, digital copies will be available to download from the usual content providers.

    Synopsis

Leonardo and Shredder are hurled through space and time when the Forever Blade is shattered! It’s up to the rest of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles to finish the fight back in NYC and rescue their brother, in addition to keeping an eye out for the time breach they were warned about.

Meanwhile, transported back to ancient Japan, Shredder has set his sights on a replacement sword… The Eddiku Trilogy continues in Saturday Morning Adventures!

    Review

In this issue the Eddiku Trilogy continues as Leonardo and Shredder are transported back in time to Ancient Japan through the tear in time caused by the Forever Blade. After an encounter with the locals Shredder believes he may have a solution after recognising one of the men, he escapes leaving Leonardo to deal with the impending threat. One of the locals happens to be Eddiku Yuri, the legendary sword maker that made the original Forever Blade and Shredder begins to recognise this legendary sword maker and sees an opportunity.

Time itself is running out and Leonardo must find a was to get back to current time and the others and without Shredder and the Forever Blade the chances of him being able to do this is beginning to look very slim indeed.

Back in current time Renet Mistress of Time is making her presence felt once again with the Turtles, they see an opportunity to get Leonardo back but it would mean convincing Renet interfere with time and that is something that she is quite against as it goes against their rules, but what are rules if they can’t be broken? Time is running out to get Leonardo home, do the Turtles have the time?

Erik Burnham brings a story that oozes nostalgic fun but also has a level of suspense that will keep you glued to the pages. I like how the story keeps you guessing and questioning as the Turtles work through time to get back their beloved brother Leonardo.

The book has a good feeling vibe that you normally got from the traditional Turtles cartoons whilst still making the book feel fresh.

The illustrations from Dan Schoening give a vibrant feel to the story whilst keeping the traditional look of the Turtles cartoon, colours by Luis Antonio Delgado provide the vibrancy that will definitely bring a smile to your face as the memories of those Saturday mornings come flooding back.

    Verdict

I’m really enjoying this trilogy story so far as it has a true traditional feel whilst giving a fresh feel to the comic. The story grows with tension as the time to stop Shredder is running out, at this point it doesn’t look great for the Turtles.
