MultiVersus: Collision Detected is a 6 issue tie-in comic series published by DC. The series is written by Bryan Q. Miller & Jon Sommariva.

MultiVersus: Collision Detected #3 is available now in print and on digital platforms where all good comic books are sold. You can grab your digital copy from Comixology UK

    Synopsis

Mayhem In The City Of Tomorrow! Metropolis’s newest city-wide battle has everything: Green Lantern, Hawkgirl, a child with a gem on his shiny round tum-tum, a sprite-sized Dark Knight, and…the Head. (It’s that thing where Brainiac’s code gets overwritten by an inebriated scientist who couldn’t be bothered to hang around for the entire issue!)

    Review

Continuing the trend of chaos and heavy IP references, the third issue of MultiVersus: Collision Detected offers a fun and entertaining, albeit slightly dizzying, experience. Watching staple characters from iconic Hollywood movies, like the Wicked Witch of the West, go toe-to-toe in battle against Wonder Woman is truly bizarre, but in the best way.

In this issue, more characters enter the fray, adding to the crazy antics that are already unfolding. Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman remain our focal points throughout this story, as we find our three leads in three extremely different circumstances; resulting in some interesting character introductions that I won’t spoil.

From the first frame of issue one, MultiVersus: Collision Detected, set the tone as a chaotic, good time, and it has managed to uphold that tone throughout all the issues (so far). Its wild energy is what makes it so delicious to read. It harkens back to those classic Saturday morning episodes where your favourite TV shows would collide, resulting in a one-off episode where the weirdest characters would interact in a fever-dream-like state. My personal favourites were Phineas and Ferb: Mission Marvel, Wizards on Deck with Hannah Montana, Steven Universe & Grandpa Uncle, and Scooby-Doo & Batman: The Brave and the Bold – to name a few.

What’s important to remember, if you’re considering picking up an issue of this comic, is that it’s meant to be a lighthearted and spirited romp. Setting that intention is important because it’s not meant to be taken seriously. Are there more serious stories out there? Absolutely, but this isn’t trying to be that, and I would strongly suggest that you approach it with that Saturday morning cartoon mentality.

When iconic IPs collide like this, you expect to see the core elements from each IP pop up – Looney Tunes-like comedy, DC villains doing what they do best, and the defined character qualities you know and love (Batman being a know-it-all). With all these tools in the box, you want them to be used, and so far, MultiVersus has done exactly that. I will say that this series would be great for binge-reading. There are some comics that warrant the wait between issues, while some work best as a binge-read in one sitting; I would argue this series is worth binge-reading.

    Verdict

The third issue of MultiVersus: Collision Detected continues its chaotic blend of iconic characters from various IPs battling it out, maintaining a fun, lighthearted tone reminiscent of classic Saturday morning cartoons. It’s a fast-paced, entertaining read that thrives on its wild energy and diverse character interactions.
