After extensive delays that have lasted years, it seems like the news is looking up for Polaroid, as it has FINALLY secured a North American release date. The haunted camera flick was the debut feature from Child’s Play director Lars Klevberg, and will now land on VOD this September 23. Released in Europe earlier this year, I will say that while the flick isn’t going to blow anyone away, it was still a relatively fun teen horror, and perfect viewing if you’ve ever wanted to see a teen adaptation of the Goosebumps book ‘Say Cheese and Die!’ In Polaroid, High…

“Once you arrive, you’ll never leave” reads the trailer for Netflix’s new series Welcome to I-Land, and with that trailer, I certainly can’t wait for it to arrive. Starring Kate Bosworth and Natalie Martinez, the series is giving me huge Cabin in the Woods at Fyre Festival vibes, and I for one, am totally here for it! “When ten people wake up on a treacherous island with no memory of who they are or how they got there, they set off on a trek to try to get back home. They soon discover this world is not as it seems.…

Fresh off producing André Øvredal’s Scary Sories to Tell in the Dark, Guillermo Del Toro is at it again with Scott Cooper’s new flick, Antlers. Looking like a small-town monster movie with some creepy practical effects, this one is making sure everyone knows that it’s definitely not for kids. The trailer is pitch-perfect in teasing just enough, and with Russell at the top of her game after multiple Emmy and Golden Globe nominations for her role in The Americans, this is definitely one to keep an eye on! In Antlers, a small-town Oregon teacher (Keri Russell) and her brother (Jesse Plemons),…

It seems like aquatic creature features are having quite the resurgence lately! After the recent hits of The Meg and Crawl, Kristen Stewart is jumping on the bandwagon by starring in William Eubank’s new movie Underwater. The director, previously known for the extremely underrated The Signal, seems to be going full Alien with the production design, and I for one, could not be more excited. While we don’t see the creatures themselves, it’s apparent that they are released after our cast tries to drill into the Earth’s core. Looking like a mix of The Descent and Harry Potter after some…

It seems like everyone wants in on the choose your own adventure model after the success of last years Bandersnatch. Next to join the craze is Alexandre Aja (The Hills Have Eyes, Crawl) as Collider reports today that the well-known horror director will be taking on a “haunted house movie” for Amblin Partners. Apparently not wanting to be left out of anything haunted house-related, the new movie will also be written by Netflix’s own Haunting of Hill House scribe Jeff Howard, and be based off an idea from Hill House creator Mike Flanagan. Most importantly is that this isn’t a…

The first season of AMC’s The Terror was a decent and unsettling show chronicling the fates of the HMS Erebus and HMS Terror as their expedition into the Arctic Archipelago went frightfully wrong. Based on the book of the same name by Dan Simmons, it was ultimately a terrific supernatural ghost story with added layers looking at British imperialism, as well as the survival issues faced with having to survive stuck in the ice. For the second season, the show was quickly turned into an anthology series by AMC, and is subtitled Infamy. The ghosts are back this time around,…

SYNOPSIS Sam Raimi and Gil Kenan reimagine and contemporize the classic tale about a family whose suburban home is invaded by angry spirits. When the terrifying apparitions escalate their attacks and take the youngest daughter, the family must come together to rescue her. REVIEW Released in 2015 to relatively little fanfare, the remake of Steven Speilberg’s Tobe Hooper’s Poltergeist initially seemed like it had quite a few things going for it. Produced by Sam Raimi, who was fresh off producing his critical and audience hit remake of Evil Dead, and starring future Oscar winner Sam Rockwell, the movie held quite a…

After fresh genre attempts last year with the similarly titled Hell Fest and Blood Fest, it seems like Eli Roth is taking over the Halloween season mantle by producing the upcoming Haunt. The plot synopsis reads; On Halloween, a group of friends encounter an “extreme” haunted house that promises to feed on their darkest fears. The night turns deadly as they come to the horrifying realization that some nightmares are real. The new movie is written by box office sensation A Quiet Place scribes Scott Beck and…

SYNOPSIS The specter of a dead child rapist haunts the children of the parents who murdered him, stalking and killing them in their dreams. REVIEW I’m not entirely sure what I was expecting when I sat down to revisit the remake for A Nightmare on Elm Street. I had seen the movie once before upon its initial release back in 2010, but my memory of the movie itself was hazy. The main thing I remember taking away from it was that it simply wasn’t very good. The thing with me and remakes however, is that over time I’ve actually grown…
