Rumoured BIRDS OF PREY synopsis teases Black Mask as films villain

Rumours are abound in the DC Films universe today with plenty of news on who might take on the villain role in Birds of Prey.

Early in the day yesterday a synopsis for the film hit the web thanks to the guys at Discussing Film. That synopsis teased that the team of heroes would be facing off against some kind of crime lord. Now we know that crime lord will be none other than Black Mask!

Here’s that short synopsis:

“After splitting up with The Joker, Harley Quinn and three other female superheroes – Black Canary, Huntress and Renee Montoya – come together to save the life of a little girl (Cassandra Cain) from an evil crime lord.”

Later in the day The Wrap was able to confirm Black Mask as the villain teased in the synopsis. No news yet on who might play him or why he’s after the young Cassandra Cain.

It had widely been rumoured that The Penguin would take the villain role in the film. It is believed the character is high on Warner Bros. agenda to introduce to the DC Films universe. It now seems that he is being saved for a role in Matt Reeve’s upcoming Batman movie.

Birds of Prey is currently targeting a 2020 release.
