Justice League Vs Godzilla Vs Kong #3 is published by DC Comics, written by Brian Buccellato and illustrated by Drew Johnson and Christian Duce.

Issue #3 is available 19th December 2023 either directly from DC Comics online or from your local comic book store, digital copies will be available to download from the usual content providers.

    Synopsis

Superman and Godzilla have gone head-to-head with devastating consequences in Metropolis as the Justice League scrambles to protect their homes from the monsters, Supergirl encounters Kong on Skull Island and Wonder Woman takes on Behemoth on Themyscira!

Lost in the monster mayhem, though, are Lex Luthor and his Legion of Doom… what nefarious connection do they have to everything?

    Review

The universe is under threat the colossal monsters are tightening their grip and causing distruction on n epic scale, the Justice League are fighting their hardest to keep the monsters at bay but this is a battle they’ve never come across before. Usually it’s a case of combine and conquer when it comes to the Justice League probably one of the strongest teams that ever was but these foes unlike anything ever seen.

The monsters have been known separately for years and felt somewhat manageable however thanks to Toyman’s evil doing the likes of Kong and Godzilla have all been unleashed together with disastrous consequences, Shazam tried his best to keep Godzilla and co at bay but his actions may well have had fatal repercussions for one particular Justice League member. In all this commotion Lex Luger and his Legion of Doom are beavering away with their plans, but what does this mean for the Justice League?

For once I haven’t got a positive feeling that the Justice League can come out on top and save the day, could it have already gone past that point?

This series has been incredible from the word go, intense action on each page and the idea of cramming so many legendary characters into one comic is mind blowing, with that in mind you would think that the overall flow of the story is a bit crammed but writer Brian Buccellato has hit the money shot with this one as each character has their own part of the story it naturally evolved as the issues go on. As disaster pieces go this series is gearing up to be the best one I’ve read this year there is so much going on and the feeling of doubt that sets in is a strange feeling as you always see the good guys win but this time the odds are seriously stacked.

As the story is an epic size the illustrations need to be on the same level and that’s exactly what Drew Johnson and Christian Duce have done with incredible artwork that feels like pouring petrol (or gasoline for American readers) on an open fire, the art explodes nearly off the pages right in your face. Each panel is filled with in tense colour pallets that highlight the intensity of the story being told, the battles were captured perfectly you could almost feel each blow shake the pages as you held it.

    Verdict

Intensity in a whole new level, one of the best series of this year. The story is building up to one of the biggest events I’ve seen on paper and I can’t wait to see it, the creative team deserve all the plaudits for this one, a comic masterpiece.
