GCPD: Blue Wall #3 is published by DC Comics, written by John Ridley and illustrated by Stefano Raffaele.

Issue #3 is available 20th December 2022 either directly from DC Comics online or from your local comic book store, digital copies will be available to download from the usual content providers.

    Synopsis

A high-profile criminal operation is foiled by the GCPD, and in the eyes of Commissioner Renee Montoya, there’s only one suspect worth investigating: the murderous gangster known as Two-Face. But every report appears to show that Harvey is back on the straight and narrow. Is the duplicitous former villain once again leading a double life? Or are ghosts from Renee’s past influencing her objective judgment?

    Review

In this issue we discover more of the lives of those on the right side of the law in Gotham and see the struggles they face trying to keep law. A ruthless gang attempts an audacious cyber heist that will potentially crumble the cryptocurrency market, luckily the GCPD were able to intercept due to an anonymous tip, there are no solid leads to pursue however Commissioner Renee Montoya has a niggling feeling that Two-Face is more than involved in this one but it’s just a simple case of proving it, which as Harvey Dent is now portraying a clean as a whistle lifestyle making anything stick to him will prove difficult to achieve.

It begins to look darker for the Commissioner as she decends into her own obsession of taking down Harvey Dent/Two-Face once and for all, but at what cost?

The writing of this book from John Ridley is incredible, a fresh look at the dark underworld of Gotham with a more realistic twist to it, kind of reminds me of the American series The Sheild or NYPD Blue (both classics by the way) hard hitting and gritty drama that has you on the edge of your seat.

The illustrations from Stefano Raffaele work well with the dark story as the book seems to come to life as the pages take you deep into Gotham’s underworld with dramatic tones and darks colours creating a mesmerising reading experience.

    Verdict

Much like the old police shows I used to watch but with the added benefit of being based in Gotham, a fantastic overall book giving a fresh look at the dark world we love.
