Pierce Brosnan & Aldis Hodge Talk BLACK ADAM (EXCLUSIVE)

To celebrate the upcoming release of Black Adam we had the immense pleasure of talking to some of the cast and crew of DC’s upcoming blockbuster which is sure to wow audiences. To end the day… And to end it with a bang! we were then able to talk to the two members of the Justice Society of America who keep everyone else in check and actually pose a threat when going up against Black Adam. This one was a huge one and we could definitely feel the nerves. The wonderful Aldis Hodge (Hawkman) and Pierce Brosnan (Doctor Fate) joined us for a quick chat and we took this insane opportunity to find out a bit more about Hawkman’s physical role and Brosnan’s time spent in a motion capture suit. They were both an absolute joy to talk to and we cannot thank them enough for their time and engagement as we endeavoured to learn more about Black Adam. Speaking of which… Black Adam is out in cinemas in just TWO DAYS, make sure you book your tickets now.

    James

“You both touched up on what it was like taking on a more physical role. For Pierce, you’re in the motion capture suit, and I was wondering what it was like being in the Mo-cap suit? And for Aldis, what was it like taking on a more aerial approach with Hawkman?”

    Aldis Hodge

    “Mo-Cap Brosnan”

    Pierce Brosnan

“Yes, Mo-Cap Brosnan, there you have it. I knew entering into this movie that my costume would be digitalised. I’ve seen so many actors before me enter into this world so I was, I was quite open to it and excited by it. Trying to create a performance in a Mo-Cap suit, you leap with great faith and trust that all will be well on the night. For me, it was Kent Nelson… Going into this man, this archaeologist who has trauma in his life, a friendship between he and Hawkman goes down through the decades and eons, and the humanity of them both. As well as the deep secret that I carry as I enter onto the stage was a secret that carries me all the way through the film.”

    Aldis Hodge

“Yeah, I think for me with the aerial work… It’s probably better to ask my back. Because… Yeah! Your boy is still getting back to his 100%. You know, it was a really great education physically because you have to train your body for endurance in a completely different way. You have to engage a lot of different muscles when you’re hanging up there, you know… 50ft in the air, you can be up there for anything like 15, 20, 30 seconds to a couple of minutes while they’re changing camera set ups and getting ready to drop you. But you have to engage your core a lot and maintain that and hopefully not black out [laughs] while you’re flying in the air. It taught me a lot about my body in different ways in terms of preservation and restoration and where my limits were. But more importantly, it helped me push past those limits. It was quite a fortuitous education physically, and one that I’ll keep with me forever.”

    Pierce Brosnan

“Didn’t knock a feather out of you.”

    Aldis Hodge

“Nope! Well, they tried very hard”

    Pierce Brosnan

“That’s my hero. We worked together on the very first day of shooting-”

    Aldis Hodge

“Oh, come on! Thank you bro”

    Pierce Brosnan

    “There’s a mutual admiration here.”

    Aldis Hodge

    “Absolutely!”

    Pierce Brosnan

“One cherishes that in this business which is so capricious… And they don’t come around that often, these kind of friendships in this kind of work. But to see Aldis on the first day, with all of us together, fly into the apartment with two stuntmen under his arms and the repitition of that, and then to see Dwayne standing there just… Monolithically beautiful. It still seers in my brain and in my heart that I’m part of this world. Gratitude.”

    Aldis Hodge

“Yeah man, it’s like… We really did this, we’re really here. This is pretty cool.”

Nearly 5,000 years after he was bestowed with the almighty powers of the ancient gods—and imprisoned just as quickly—Black Adam (Johnson) is freed from his earthly tomb, ready to unleash his unique form of justice on the modern world.

Directed by Jaume Collet-Serra, the film stars Dwayne Johnson, Noah Centineo, Aldis Hodge, Pierce Brosnan, Quintessa Swindell, Mo Amer, Marwan Kenzari, Bodhi Sabongui, James Cusati-Moyer, Sarah Shahi and Uli Latukefu. The film is set to arrive in cinemas October 21, 2022- It’s so close now.
