    Synopsis

The new Mighty Morphin team is on a collision course with an even deadlier Lord Zedd, who has a new mission and a new motivation — one that will change everything you thought you knew about our heroes! But even if the Mighty Morphin team can find a way to survive Zedd and their mysterious new enemies, they may discover the greatest threat to their future is the shocking secret of Zordon’s past!

    Review

Being a fan of the TV show from back in the day makes me intrigued to see what path the various comic series have taken, Mighty Morphin Vol. 1 grabs you and drags you along for a action-packed, gripping ride taking you on various interlocking paths that make sense once you’ve read the volume. The story, expertly written by Ryan Parrott, takes what you thought you knew of Power Rangers and elevates it to a whole new level.

Each page is jam packed with drama and action as the Rangers struggle with their own abilities and Zedd’s onslaught intensifies. With more dangerous putties and bigger threats to the Rangers on the horizon, the arrival of a mysterious Green Ranger only adds even intrigue to the mix.

As the story develops fans get the inevitable pay off with one of my favourite parts of the franchise. The arrival of the Megazords, taking the fight to the mega-sized putties and giving some epic visual battles on page.

I like how Parrott’s story utilises flashbacks to give expand the back story of supporting characters like Zordon. It gives the reader a better feel of who this character is and gives more depth to the overall story. I hope in futures volumes this will develop into an even more interesting arc.

Across four issues, volume ones takes you on an action-packed journey with the Rangers as they do battle with Lord Zedd and his relentless army of henchmen and putties, each page takes you further into the action as the battle unfolds before your eyes, you will struggle to put this down once you pick it up, I was gripped from the start.

With the incredible artistic talents of Marco Renna you are instantly hooked into the book as the detail on every page visually explains the epic battle ensuing leaving you entranced in the story as you turn the pages.

    Verdict

I am fully invested in the Mighty Morphin story arc and cannot wait for the following chapters to continue the story of the epic battle to defeat Lord Zedd. Fans of the Power Rangers franchise will love the way Ryan Parrott brings the story we all love from TV to the comic pages.
