This years D23 event was chaotic, especially when it was crashed by Stitch himself. We already knew that a sequel to the billion dollar hit was happening when it was announced back in 2025- funnily enough on June 26th- 6/26 – Stitch’s experiment ID, but the studio came to the presentation with a nice surprise for eager fans.
A very small teaser was revealed that showed Stitch greeting everyone at D23 before getting interrupted by a very familiar face. Two pink anntenas rise from the bottom of the screen forming a love heart before flashbanging Stitch. Angel has officially arrived.
Check out the teaser below:
Experiment 624, aka Angel, first appeared in the 30th episode of Lilo & Stitch: The Series– that episode aired 22 years ago. From her introduction, Angel and Stitch have become Disney’s power couple so it only makes sense for the sequel to bring in this fan-favourite. In the series, Angel’s main ability was a form of siren song that essentially flips someone’s morality, turning good people bad and bad people good.
Chris Sanders, who co-created, co-wrote and co-directed the original animated movie will direct the sequel. Sanders will also provide the voice for Stitch as he has done in both animation and live-action. In terms of details, not much is really known about this sequel. According to The Hollywood Reporter, this sequel will be a brand new story rather than an adaptation of Stitch has a Glitch.
With this sequel taking a new route, the possibilities are quite endless. There are hundreds of experiments to explore, Jumba has become more evil than the original film depicted, and you have Gantu and even Dr. Hamsterviel who played pivotal roles in the series. There are a lot of fun elements they could play around with, but we’ll have to wait and see.
Lilo & Stitch 2 is set to crash into cinemas on May 26, 2028.
