Great news for Constantine fans! Overnight several new sources, including EW, have broken the news that Matt Ryan has been promoted to a series regular on Legends of Tomorrow. The character has already appeared in two episodes of the current season. He is due to return for the season finale in April which will presumably setup his role in the shows fourth season. The only snag? The show has yet to be officially picked up for a fourth season. With the news of Ryan’s promotion that’s definitely a positive sign the show will be returning. Heroic Hollywood is running a report on production of The Batman. They believe that inside sources have confirmed the film will finally begin production sometime in 2019. Much to the behest of some fans this is actually great news for DC Films. Whilst 2018 belongs solely to Aquaman, this will allow Wonder Woman 2 to take centre stage in 2019 alongside Shazam! before Batman comes back to the fore. Tomb Raider has opened this weekend with an estimated $126m worldwide. Though the news in North America that the film opened to $23.5m is a little disappointing the news elsewhere is much more encouraging. The film has opened in second place in the US falling slightly short of Black Panther which holds the top spot for a fifth consecutive week. Panther took in an approximate $27m to hold on to the top spot. It’s continues its hugely successful run as the only Marvel movie to last more than three weeks in the top spot. Earlier this year it was announced that longtime Batman writer Scott Snyder would be moving on. Following the completion of the Dark Knights Metal series he is moving on to a four-part Justice League miniseries dubbed “No Justice”. Following the end of that miniseries Snyder will take over writing duties on the full Justice League book. Overnight Deadline and other trades have carried a report that Warner Bros. and DC Films are working on an adaption of the New Gods property masterminded by Jack Kirby. The company has reportedly tapped A Wrinkle In Time director Ava DuVernay to helm the project. DuVernay made history by becoming the first female director of colour to direct a $100m+ project. A Wrinkle In Time hails from Disney but has failed to set critics and the box office alight. The guys at IMAX have proven again and again that they know how to put together a movie poster. For almost all of the big Hollywood releases of the last few years the IMAX artwork has been stunning. Earlier today we brought you the news that Square Enid would be making a Tomb Raider related announcement today. As expected we got the formal announcement of Shadow of the Tomb Raider.  The game, billed as the completion of Lara Croft’s origin trilogy, is due for release on September 14, 2108.
