AT&T has made no secret of the fact it wished to purchase Time Warner. The company made a $85.4 billion offer back in October 2017. That bid was blocked whilst the merger was investigated by a federal judge.
The investigation is now over. In a ruling announced yesterday AT&T has been given the all clear to go ahead and complete its purchase.
“We are pleased that, after conducting a full and fair trial on the merits, the Court has categorically rejected the government’s lawsuit to block our merger with Time Warner,” AT&T General Counsel David McAtee said in a statement. “We look forward to closing the merger on or before June 20 so we can begin to give consumers video entertainment that is more affordable, mobile, and innovative.”
There is no word on how this could affect DC Comics or the DC Films world. Most likely there could be a shift in leadership if the new owners do not agree with the direction of the company.
