An utterly ridiculous rumour circled the web yesterday saying the X-Men: Dark Phoenix had been removed from 20th Century Fox’s release schedule. The rumour stated that the film had been removed from the Fox website. This removal was taken as sign that rumoured reshoots had been poorly received by studio execs. The film was subsequently said to have been shelved. We don’t know about you, but films with $100m+ budgets aren’t often cancelled! Fox themselves have now commented to dispel rumours. A new rumour from Omega Underground contains some interesting information about the future of the Alien franchise. Following the underwhelming reception to both Prometheus and Alien: Covenant it seems the franchise is going back-to-basics. According to the site, Fox is considering a TV show which could run in parallel to the six Alien movies. The company is yet to decide whether this series would air on the FOX network and be sold to premium streaming services. Things are looking good for Ant-Man and The Wasp when it finally drops in North American cinemas on Thursday. According to Variety the film is tracking for an opening weekend in the region of $70-$80m. Though that figure seems fairly low for an MCU film, the original Ant-Man opened to a modest $57.2m back in 2015. That film went on to gross a much more impressive $519.3m worldwide. The film has also been certified fresh on aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes. The film currently holds an 85% fresh rating based on an average score of 6.9/10. Deadpool 2 actor Lewis Tan has confirmed that a recent tweet did signify a meeting with the executives at DC Films. Back in early June Tan tweeted the below photo and message. Giving nothing away speculations was rife that he had met with execs to discuss taking on the role of Nightwing. The dinosaurs have ruled supreme at the weekend box office again. In its second weekend frame in North America, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom fell around 59% to gross a further $60m. That takes its current domestic to total to around over $264.8m. Globally the film raked in another $56.1m for a total in the region of $667.6m. It doesn’t take a mathematician to know that means the film is closing is on the coveted $1 billion mark worldwide. Currently the film is sitting pretty at $932.4m. A new rumour points to Matt Reeves The Batman finally taking its first steps towards entering production. The legendary Batman-on-Film website is reporting that the film is beginning to hire production staff. This means the film could enter pre-production very shortly.
