James Wan is still doing the rounds promoting box office hit Aquaman. During a recent chat with Collider the director discussed a scene from the script which he ultimately decided was too crazy to film. This weekend see’s a huge triple-bill of movies fighting it out for Christmas box office glory. Warner Bros. Aquaman goes up against Disney’s Mary Poppins Returns and Paramount Pictures Bumblebee. Nobody would have presumed that of those three movies Bumblebee would be the best reviewed. But as it stands the Transformers spin-off currently holds a 96% score on Rotten Tomatoes based off 55 reviews. Following much speculation it has finally been revealed when we will see the first trailer for Hellboy. The reboot is due to hit cinemas in April and premiere its first footage at NYCC back in October. Now Lionsgate has confirmed that footage will debut online on Thursday of this week. It’s been a great weekend for comic book movies at the box office. With Aquaman riding high internationally it’s Spider-Man who wears the crown in North America. Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse has opened to $35.4M sitting dead centre of the $30-40M predictions. The front loaded weekend saw the Sony Pictures release take $12.7M on Friday, $13.1M on Saturday and closed out the weekend with a $9.5M Sunday. The weekend is over (sadly), the receipts have been counted and the news is in. Aquaman has amassed a whopping $126M at the international box office after expanding into around 40 new territories this week. The latest DC Films release has now clocked up an impressive $189.2M in China alone. It has now passed Captain America: Civil War ($180.8M) to become the third highest grossing comic book movie at the Chinese box office. Worldwide Aquaman has now made $261.3M.
