He loves anything horror, but especially anything from the '80s, those were some fun times.

It’s been twenty-one years since Hideo Nakata unleashed Ringu on the world, and since then there have been sequels, prequels, remakes, and sequels to remakes abound. Not to mention that Vs. movie. This year he’s attempting a triumphant return to horror after some disappointing recent films, and this time he’s going back to the err…well, and bringing his horror icon Sadako with him. The new film is set to premiere at the Fantasia Film Festival later this month, and they were kind enough to give us a synopsis of what to expect from the plot; “A young girl with amnesia…

As Lars Klevberg’s new Child’s Play is quickly disappearing from theatres, the Stan Winston school have a released a behind the scenes documentary on how they brought Mark Hammill’s AI gone-wrong version of the character to life. The video emphasises the use of old-school puppetry, and shows off the seven versions of ‘Chucky’ that were created to bring the character to life. Child’s Play has so far amassed a total of only $27M at the North-American box office, meaning this may be the last we see of this iteration of the character. The Chucky reigns now fall back to Don…

In news that comes as a bit of a surprise, James Gunn has announced today that discussions have taken place on a proposed sequel to this year’s Brightburn. Released back in May, Brightburn kind of struggled at the box office, making only $30M worldwide. The important bit here though is that the movie was shot on only a $6M budget, and that is some cheap change for any kind of cinematic superhero these days. Replying to a follower on instagram over the weekend, Gunn had this to say; “I think I’m tied up for the next few years with Suicide…

Details were released today on the cast for the upcoming Saw reboot/sequel, and in news that I still can’t quite believe, Nick Fury himself, Mr Samuel L. Jackson, has joined the cast playing the father of Chris Rock’s police detective. Also joining the cast are Max Mighella (Horns), who will play Rock’s partner, and Marisol Nichols (TV’s Riverdale). “We think Samuel L. Jackson and Chris Rock along with Max Minghella and Marisol Nichols make this film completely special in the SAW canon and we can’t wait to unleash this unexpected and sinister new story on fans of this franchise, this is next level…

SYNOPSIS A young couple travels to Sweden to visit their friend’s rural hometown and attend its mid-summer festival. What begins as an idyllic retreat quickly descends into an increasingly violent and bizarre competition at the hands of a pagan cult. REVIEW Well, that might just be my weirdest cinema experience of 2019. I went into Midsommar feeling pretty sure I knew what I was getting. I’d seen Ari Aster’s previous film Hereditary (which I really enjoyed), and I’d also made a point to read some interviews with Aster beforehand, where he described his intentions for the movie. In these interviews, Aster…

It was a bit of a rough weekend at the box office for new opener Midsommar, as horror began to cannibalize itself after three consecutive new releases. Midsommar actually got its start on Wednesday earning $3M including midnights, but over the weekend proper scored a total of $6.5M and a sixth-place finish. This gives it a total so far of $10.9M, which is relatively similar to what Hereditary opened to over its three day weekend last year. The cult horror was cheap to produce at $10M, and I doubt A24 was expecting this to take off in a significant way.…

SYNOPSIS Finally, graduated and off to Croatia. It’s supposed to be the “party of their lives.” But for Julia and her friends, their graduation trip turns into a horror trip, from which not everyone will return. REVIEW So yesterday I did something that for a horror fan is actually quite shocking, I signed up to Shudder for the first time. I know, where have I been, right? After signing up and logging in, Shudder instantly began pushing this little movie on me called Party Hard, Die Young, and as it’s their newest ‘Shudder original’, I thought I would check it out…

When we last heard about new BBC and Netflix co-production Dracula it was aiming for an early 2019 production start. At the time it was announced that Claes Bang would be taking on the lead role and now we have a first look at the actor in action. These two first-look photos from the set feature a very casual looking Bang alongside his more sinister alter-ego. The series hails from Sherlock masterminds Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss and is set to follow the three-part, 90 minute episode format which made that show a huge success. Jonny Campbell (Westworld), Damon Thomas (Killing Eve) and Paul McGuigan…
