After airing only four episodes of its ten episode season, HBO Max has handed down a second season order for Stuart Fails to Save the Universe. The spin-off to The Big Bang Theory continues to roll out new episodes every Thursday (Friday in the UK) until September 24, 2026.
The series, from creators Chuck Lorre, Zak Penn, and Bill Prady, has quickly become the streamer’s second-biggest comedy launch of all time globally, falling behind another spin-off series, the Sexy and the City sequel And Just Like That…

The series follows comic book store owner Stuart Bloom (Kevin Sussman) who is tasked with restoring reality after he breaks a device built by Sheldon and Leonard, accidentally bringing about a multiverse Armageddon. Stuart is aided in this quest by his girlfriend Denise (Lauren Lapkus), geologist friend Bert (Brian Posehn), and quantum physicist/all-around pain in the ass Barry Kripke (John Ross Bowie).
So far in season 1 The Big Bang Theory stars Kaley Cuoco, Kunal Nayyar, Melissa Rauch and Mayim Bialik have all guest-starred as alternate versions of their original characters.
Stuart Fails To Save the Universe hails from Chuck Lorre Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television, is created, written, and executive produced by Big Bang creators Lorre & Prady and Penn. Kyle Newacheck is executive producer and directs multiple episodes.
