Fire Force season 3, episodes 1-3 are streaming now in the UK on Crunchyroll.
Synopsis
Tokyo is burning, and citizens are mysteriously suffering from spontaneous human combustion all throughout the city! Responsible for snuffing out this inferno is the Fire Force, and Shinra is ready to join their fight. Now, as part of Company 8, he’ll use his devil’s footprints to help keep the city from turning to ash! But his past and a burning secret behind the scenes could set everything ablaze.
Review
Fire Force episode 3 is where we get our first fight of what I assume will be many fights.
After accepting an uneasy alliance last episode with Joker, a character who has had a few run-ins with Company 8 before, he and Shinra breached the prison first, only to end up face to face with Burns, a man who more than lives up to his name. The duo are unable to knock him back, however, due to his ever-increasing heat. Burns is the one person standing between them and Captain Obi.
Meanwhile, the rest of Company 8 blast their way through the prison’s walls, taking the White-Clad by surprise, hilariously. The team is divided into three groups: the techs, the fighters, and one MIA who will no doubt make a kick-ass return in a later episode.
But this is what folks are here for: the Fire Force fights! Now, I’m a little bit ‘whelmed’ by them so far. Burns is mostly just standing there getting hotter, and the Company 8 team are mostly re-strategising against a foe who can redirect their attacks back onto them (in a crude way of describing it).
Verdict
We’ve not yet seen anything intense or jaw-dropping, which to be fair is only three episodes in, but I would hope that next episode the fight between Burns, Shinra, and Joker takes a more intense turn with some epic action! It’s something I’ve come to expect from this anime, especially since we have waited since 2020/2021 for this final season to kick off.
