One Piece is heading to the cinemas! After breaking its own world record for manga sales and launching the 1000th anime episode (roughly 400 hours worth of anime right there), the beloved franchise is sailing to the big screen this year for its 15th feature film… Can you believe it? 15 movies. One Piece: Red will feature an original story from the hit series’ creator Eiichiro Oda and is expected to hit cinemas in the UK and in Ireland sometime in Autumn of 2022.
One Piece: Red is directed by Goro Taniguchi, who previously helmed One Piece: Defeat Him! The Pirate Ganzack!, the very first One Piece animation, with a screenplay by Tsutomu Kuroiwa (One Piece Film: Gold). Eiichiro Oda will be overseeing the project as an Executive Producer. In addition to that, Oda also designed the new characters, including Uta- The daughter of Shanks, the legendary pirate who inspired the series’ protagonist Monkey D. Luffy.
“One Piece is deeply loved in the United Kingdom and Ireland, and rightly so.” says Andrew Partridge, CEO and Co-Founder of Anime Limited. “It’s our privilege and honour to be able to bring such an exhilarating chapter of the One Piece saga to the big screen in the biggest way possible.”

So, where do we find ourselves in One Piece: Red?
Uta — the most beloved singer in the world. Renowned for concealing her own identity when performing, her voice has come to be described as “otherworldly.” Now, for the first time ever, Uta will reveal herself to the world at a live concert. As the venue fills with all kinds of Uta fans — excited pirates, the Navy watching closely, and the Straw Hats led by Luffy who simply came to enjoy her sonorous performance — the voice that the whole world has been waiting for is about to resound. The story begins with the shocking fact that she is Shanks’ daughter.
One Piece Film: Red will be shown in selected cinemas in Autumn of 2022. The film will be available in both Japanese with English subtitles, as well as an English language dub.
