Sony Pictures has made the tough decision to shift the release date of director Daniel Espinosa’s Moribus to April 2022. The move comes amidst surging Covid-19 cases in countries across the globe.
The news began to circulate in the early hours of this morning before being confirmed in a report from The Hollywood Reporter. The film had been slated to hit cinemas on January 28. This is not the first delay for Moribus, which was originally set to release back in July of 2020.
During the first wave of Covid the film was moved from July to March of 2021. In January of 2021 the film moved again, this time to October, before moving again to January of 2022 to avoid the release of Universal Pictures No Time To Die.
Directed by Daniel Espinosa, Morbius stars Jared Leto as the titular character, Matt Smith as Loxias Crown, Adria Arjona as Martine Bancroft, Tyrese Gibson as Agent Stroud and Jared Harris. Morbius releases exclusively in cinemas on April 1, 2022.
