Earlier today it was revealed that Netflix has cancelled the Arthurian legend Cursed. The news got us thinking: what happened to creator Simon Barry’s fantasy series Warrior Nun.
Much liked Cursed, the first season of Warrior Nun debuted back in July 2020 and was quickly renewed for a second series. Since then news on the series has been sparse. But a report this week from Bleeding Cool gives us an idea about when to expect new episodes to return.
According to the site a source close to the production claims that pre-production is well underway with camera set to roll “sometime around August.” The report goes on to state that new episodes could return to Netflix in Q2/Q3 of 2022.
Inspired by the Manga novels, Warrior Nun revolves around a 19 year-old woman who wakes up in a morgue with a new lease on life and a divine artifact embedded in her back. She discovers she is now part of an ancient order that has been tasked with fighting demons on Earth, and powerful forces representing both heaven and hell want to find and control her.
From creator Simon Barry (Continuum), Warrior Nun stars Alba Baptista, Tristán Ulloa, Kristina Tonteri-Young, Lorena Andrea, Toya Turner and Thekla Reuten. Also starring are Sylvia De Fanti, Emilio Sakraya, Olivia Delcán, Joaquim De Almeida, May Simón Lifschitz, Dimitri Abold and Charlotte Vega.
Season one is available now to stream via Netflix.
