It’s been almost a full year since Netflix debuted its Arthurian series Cursed. But now it has been confirmed that the series, based on the novel by Frank Miller and Tom Wheeler, will not be returning for a second season.
Cursed is a re-imagining of the Arthurian legend, told through the eyes of Nimue, a teenage heroine with a mysterious gift who is destined to become the powerful (and tragic) Lady of the Lake. After her mother’s death, she finds an unexpected partner in Arthur, a young mercenary, in a quest to find Merlin and deliver an ancient sword. Over the course of her journey, Nimue will become a symbol of courage and rebellion against the terrifying Red Paladins, and their complicit King Uther.
Nimue was played the Katherine Langford (Love, Simon) and made its debut on the streamer on July 17, 2020. Upon its premiere, the show received mixed reviews. But after ending on a huge cliffhanger it seemed the producers definitely had ideas for a second season.
Based on the novel by Frank Miller and Tom Wheeler, Cursed stars Katherine Langford, Devon Terrell, Gustaf Skarsgård, Peter Mullan, Shalom Brune-Franklin, Daniel Sharman, Sebastian Armesto, Ella Prebble, Scarlett Rock and Daniella Gad.
