Netflix halts production on THE WITCHER season 2

Lucifer

LUCIFER season 6 a step closer to reality as Tom Ellis signs new deal

Following persistent rumours that Netflix was actively seeking to extend Lucifer for a sixth season it seems the idea has taken another step closer to becoming a reality.

Last week we heard that co-showrunners Ildy Modrovich and Joe Henderson had signed new deals which could allow the series to live on. It was also rumoured that much of the series cast either had existing deals or had signed new ones to cover production on a further season.

The only missing piece in the puzzle? Lead actor Tom Ellis. Now, TVLine is reporting that Ellis has signed a deal to continue in the role which he started back in 2016.

No official news from Warner Bros. or Netflix yet as to continuing the series but it certainly looks like a resurrection is on the cards!

Lucifer stars Tom Ellis, Lauren German, Kevin Alejandro, D.B. Woodside, Lesley-Ann Brandt, Rachael Harris, and Aimee Garcia. The series comes from Joe Henderson and Ildy Modrovich.

Stranger Things (Netflix)

The STRANGER THINGS 4 cast meets for a table read in new teaser

Netflix has released a brand new promo for Stranger Things 4. This latest promo doesn’t give away any storyline from the upcoming series but does give us a nice glimpse behind-the-scenes.

Watch as the cast all come together for a table read but don’t expect too many spoilers. If you look around the 00:40 mark it appears a new character has had their face blurred out to keep the secrets.

There may or may not be an appearance by a character thought dead at the end of Stranger Things 3 however!

Stranger Things stars Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Finn Wolfhard, Millie Bobby Brown, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Noah Schnapp, Natalie Dyer, Charlie Heaton, Joe Keery, Priah Ferguson, Cary Elwes, Jake Busey and Maya Thurman-Hawke.

Season 1-3 of Stranger Things are available to stream now via Netflix.

Transformers

First trailer for Netflix’s TRANSFORMERS Trilogy

The Autobots and Decepticons are back in Netflix’s upcoming trilogy- Transformers: War For Cybertron Trilogy. The three-part arc will follow our beloved characters, both good and bad, as we dive deep into the heart of their Cybertronian conflict.

The first trailer for the animated trilogy was shown over the weekend at Hasbro’s Brand Entertainment Preview Event. You can check out the explosive trailer below:

The trailer promises plenty of intense action sequences and a refreshing stylistic take on the final days of Cybertron.

The first chapter, Siege, reveals Megatron’s plan to unify Cybertron and to eradicate his enemies, including Prime and anyone who dares defy him. Circumstances can change, but Megatron never will.

Check out the full synopsis:

“Transformers: War For Cybertron Trilogy: Siege begins in the final hours of the devastating civil war between the Autobots and Decepticons. The war that has torn apart their home planet of Cybertron is at a tipping point. Two leaders, Optimus Prime and Megatron, both want to save their world and unify their people, but only on their own terms. In an attempt to end the conflict, Megatron is forced to consider using the Allspark, the source of all life and power on Cybertron, to “reformat” the Autobots, thus “unifying” Cybertron. Outnumbered, outgunned, and under SIEGE, the battle-weary Autobots orchestrate a desperate series of counterstrikes on a mission that, if everything somehow goes right, will end with an unthinkable choice: kill their planet in order to save it.”

According to IMDB, Siege will consist of 6 episodes, running for 22 minutes each. Once all 6 episodes have aired, we will enter the next phase of the war… Earthrise. Then the final chapter of the trilogy, currently untitled, will conclude the power struggle between the Autobots and Decepticons.

Despite the exciting trailer, we still don’t know when the first part will air. Hopefully it is soon because it looks fantastic. However, it might take some of us some time to adjust to not having Peter Cullen and Frank Welker return to voice Optimus and Megatron. Having said that, I am fully open to an entirely new voice cast and from what I’ve heard already, I’m really impressed.

Here is a list of the main characters!
  • Optimus Prime- Jake Foushee
  • Megatron- Jason Marnocha
  • Elita-1- Linsay Rousseau
  • Bumblebee- Joe Zieja
  • Starscream- Frank Todaro
  • Ratchet- Rafael Goldstein
  • Jetfire- Keith Silverstein
  • Shockwave + Red Alert- Todd Haberkorn
  • Ultra Magnus + Soundwave- Edward Bosco
  • Wheeljack- Bill Rogers
  • Arcee- Sophia Isabella
  • Impactor- Brook Chalmers
  • Mirage- Shawn Hawkins
  • Ironhide- Kaiser Johnson
  • Teletraan I & Cliffjumper- Miles Luna
  • Sideswipe & Skyward- Mark Whitten

While we wait for the upcoming trilogy, we will be sure to update you with the release date. Once we actually get it.

The Umbrella Academy (Netflix)

Netflix unveils posters for THE UMBRELLA ACADEMY season 2

Netflix is gearing up for the return of The Umbrella Academy. The first season finale left the Hargeeves family in a rather precarious position after they failed to stop the apocalypse. The family chose to travel back in time to make a second attempt but as the season one finale drew to a close the team found they had all been regressed back to childhood.

Though Netflix has yet to announce a premiere date for season 2, they have begun promoting the second batch of episodes with the release of these new posters.

The colourful posters all continue the umbrella motif with each member of the Hargreeves family appearing in their own poster. There’s also a stylised umbrella in the number two on the final poster, that same poster also features the teasing caption “When are they?”.

Well indeed Netflix. When are they? And when will they be back!?

The Umbrella Academy is based on the popular, Eisner award-winning comics and graphic novels created and written by Gerard Way (My Chemical Romance), illustrated by Gabriel Bá, and published by Dark Horse Comics.

The live-action series stars Ellen Page, Tom Hopper, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Robert Sheehan, David Castañeda, Aidan Gallagher, Cameron Britton, and Mary J. Blige, and is produced by Universal Cable Productions for Netflix. Steve Blackman (Fargo, Altered Carbon) will serve as executive producer and showrunner, with additional executive producers Jeff F. King (Hand of God), Bluegrass Television, and Mike Richardson and Keith Goldberg from Dark Horse Entertainment. Gerard Way and Gabriel Bá will serve as co-executive producers.

Season 1 of The Umbrella Academy is available now via Netflix worldwide.

Jennifer Lawrence joins Netflix Sci-Fi comedy DON’T LOOK UP

Jennifer Lawrence, star of films such as X-Men: Days of Future Past and The Hunger Games, is set to take a break from the silver screen as she is announced to join the cast of Netflix’s upcoming sci-fi comedy Don’t Look Up.

As per Deadline, the Academy Award-winner is set to take the lead in the film which tells the story of two low-level astronomers who must go on a giant media tour to warn mankind of an approaching asteroid that will destroy Earth.

McKay also wrote the script and will produce under his Hyperobject Industries banner with Kevin Messick, no confirmation on whether McKay will also direct.

“I’m so thrilled to make this movie with Jen Lawrence. She’s what folks in the 17th century used to call ‘a dynamite talent’,” McKay said. “And the fact that Netflix sees this movie as a worldwide comedy sets the bar high for me and my team in an exciting and motivating way.”

Scott Stuber, head of Netflix films, added: “Adam has always had great timing when it comes to making smart, relevant and irreverent films that depict our culture. Even if he somehow ends up predicting planet Earth’s imminent demise, we’re excited to add this to our slate before it all comes to an end.”

Cameras are expected to roll on Don’t Look Up in April.

The Witcher (Netflix)

THE WITCHER Season 2 adds GAME OF THRONES star

The second season of The Witcher is a long way away but we’ve got some incredibly exciting news. On top of the 2 new Witchers that have been casted– Paul Bullion as Lambert and Yasen Atour as Coën- a fan favourite from Game of Thrones has been rumored to have joined the highly anticipated show.

Kristofer Hivju, who played Tormund in Game of Thrones, arguably one of the greatest characters in Westeros, has reportedly been casted as Nivellen.

Fans of the book may recognize that name. For those who are new to the vast world of The Witcher, let me elaborate.

Nivellen is a character who appears in a short story written by Andrzej Sapkowski, the author of the entire book series. In “A Grain of Truth”, Geralt stumbles upon a mansion owned by Nivellen, a monstrous beast who was once a man.

Without going into too much detail as I highly recommend reading the books, this particular story has many similarities to Beauty and the Beast. You have a Beast, a curse, a spooky mansion that is also cursed, love and even a rose. It’s uncanny!

This short story is probably one of my favorites and I can’t wait to see it adapted. According to Cinemablend, this episode will likely kick-start the second season which means that Nivellen’s appearance will be short-lived. Considering the size of the chapter and the outcome, this makes a lot of sense. Just like the story with the Striga (episode 3), this story will probably be a one-off episode. However, if it’s done well… it will be a great one.

I can’t wait to see who else joins the cast. Obviously, many of us are waiting for Mark Hamill to join as Vesemir. Could it happen? I certainly hope so.

Are you excited for The Witcher? Let us know your thoughts in the comments. In the meantime, I highly recommend picking up the books if you can and diving into the games.

Lucifer

Rumours persist that Netflix is pursuing further seasons of LUCIFER

Going in to the weekend a new rumour surfaced online suggesting that Netflix was looking to continue Lucifer for future seasons. Back last year the show runners and cast confirmed that the upcoming fifth season, the second to air as a Netflix exclusive, would be the series last.

We left the rumour to circulate for the weekend but it just isn’t going away!

According to TVLine, Netflix is in active discussions with the cast, writers and studio Warner Bros. to extend the series in to a sixth season. The previously announced fifth season was recently extended to 16-episodes which will air on the streaming giant in two, 8-epsiode blocks.

TVLine understands those final episodes are currently still in production, allowing the producers time to re-write scenes to allow the series to continue should a deal be struck.

Lucifer stars Tom Ellis, Lauren German, Kevin Alejandro, D.B. Woodside, Lesley-Ann Brandt, Rachael Harris, and Aimee Garcia. The series comes from Joe Henderson and Ildy Modrovich.
