Are you ready for even more Game of Thrones? We’re not talking about House of the Dragon either. According to Deadline, HBO are looking to expand the realm of Ice and Fire with three additional spinoff shows.
Here are the 3 potential shows:
- Sea Snake (9 Voyages)
- Flea Bottom
- 10,000 Ships
Out of the three, it seems as though Sea Snake is probably the most fully formed project. While undeveloped, there is a creative team on board which includes writer Bruno Heller. But what exactly are these projects?
Well, Sea Snake refers to the great explorer Corlys Velaryon who traveled the seas and journeyed to many locations Game of Thrones fans may recognize including Dragonstone and Pentos. He also traveled to Essos and explored the rich and powerful lands of Yi-Ti and Leng. It’s also worth mentioning that Lord Corlys Velaryon is set to appear in House of the Dragon and will be played by Steve Toussaint. It could be that House of the Dragon is used as a gateway for some of the additional spinoffs and prequels.
Flea Bottom seems very self explanatory to those who are well versed in George R.R Martin’s mythology. Flea Bottom is of course the slum district in King’s Landing. While it’s pretty unclear, it can be assumed that Flea Bottom will explore life down in the slums.
Lastly, there’s the 10,000 Ships project. This project revolves around Princess Nymeria who was a legendary warrior. She escaped a long conflict known as the Second Spice War and settled in Dorne, taking her fleet with her. This story takes place a thousand years before the events of Game of Thrones/A Song of Ice and Fire. If they go ahead with this project, it’s likely that we’ll see Nymeria and the Rhoynar unite with House Martell against the other Dornishmen which led to Nymeria’s War.
It’ll be interesting to see whether these projects take shape and what other additional branches HBO choose to explore. Regardless of the last few seasons of Game of Thrones, it’s hard to deny that the universe still has a lot to offer. There are so many areas and times to explore and we hope that these stories will restore people’s faith and excitement for Game of Thrones.
We’ll be sure to keep you posted on all things Game of Thrones. Especially while we wait for HBO’s Targaryen spinoff, House of the Dragon which is due out in 2022.
