It will come as no surprise that studios are beginning to look at moving their early 2021 movies. With Coronavirus still a global issue all eyes are on those Q1 2021 releases, such as Disney’s Black Widow, as cinemas remain closed.
Overnight, Sony Pictures has confirmed that Jared Leto’s Morbius will be exiting its planned March 19 release date. As part of a length piece in Variety on the current state of cinema, the studios has confirmed Morbius will instead debut on October 8.
That new release date puts Morbius in direct competition with Warner Bros. Dune remake which releases one week earlier. Venom 2 is currently still set to hit cinemas in June 2021.
Directed by Daniel Espinosa, Morbius stars Jared Leto as the titular character, Matt Smith as Loxias Crown, Adria Arjona as Martine Bancroft, Tyrese Gibson as Agent Stroud and Jared Harris
