Transformers: Rise of the Beasts has been out for a week now, and we’re already thinking about the future. With the sequel dethroning Sony Animation’s Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse with a $171M opening weekend, it’s no surprise that the cogs are already turning. Audiences are loving this seventh installment, so it’s safe to say that the Transformers franchise still has some spark left, and we couldn’t be happier.
In a conversation with Deadline, director Steven Caple Jr. has revealed that he is in talks for another Transformers sequel which will incorporate that cliffhanger scene between Anthony Ramos and Michael Kelly.
“I am not officially signed on for the next movie,” Caple Jr. said. “We’re in the works now, but I’m not officially signed on. I’m in talks.” So nothing has been finalised but there are definitely pieces moving around this Cybertronian chessboard, so to speak.
“I set up a lot of stuff in this film…anytime [the studio, producers, and I] talk about the future, you know, there’s a lot of ‘we,’ the word, ‘we,’ so it kind of naturally fell that way. But everything else planted here was for the future, so, yeah, we’re in talks.”
When asked about expanding on that particular tease, Caple added “I would love to. I have some ideas on how to branch out that part of the IP. If I can do this crossover that I plan on doing, I think there’s a way to still feed the fans what we want in Transformers films, but also do something cool with another legendary IP, so to speak. I would be excited and thrilled.”

Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, directed by Steven Caple Jr, stars Anthony Ramos, Dominique Fishback, and Luna Lauren Velez. In addition to that, Peter Cullen is back as the great Optimus Prime alongside Ron Perlman who is voicing Optimus Primal, a transforming gorilla and leader of the Maximals.
The cast also includes Peter Dinklage (Scourge), Liza Koshy (Arcee), John DiMaggio (Stratosphere), David Sobolov (Rhinox/Battletrap), Michaela Jaé Rodriguez (Nightbird), Cristo Fernández (Wheeljack), and Tobe Nwigwe (Reek), Michelle Yeoh (Airazor), and Pete Davidson (Mirage).
