The Flash #793 is available now, in print and on digital, where all good comic books are sold.

    Synopsis

“The One-Minute War” part four! After the deadly impact of the Fraction’s arrival, the Flash Family must come together and figure out what is going on and how to stop this speedster invasion!

    Review

So far, “The One Minute War” has been one of The Flash‘s best storylines in decades. We’ve seen Adams’ masterminding an epic storyline which doesn’t just bring high stakes. It’s also been an emotional story which could have huge ramifications for the Flash-family. This month Barry, Wally and the rest of the Speedsters are taking the fight back to the Fraction. But can they turn the tide of the war?

“The One Minute War” has been incredibly multi-faceted. Adams isn’t only balancing a huge ensemble cast with the Speedsters. The story have given us several different perspectives, particularly with what we saw in the One Minute War Special a few weeks back. It’s also not simply a battle of wits between Flash and the Fraction. There are real emotional consequences to the Fraction’s arrival on Earth which cut deep in to the heart of what The Flash stands for as a character.

This issue represents a change in gear for the arc, finding the Flash-Family fighting to take back control of the situation. It’s the first time we’ve seen the group galvanised and looking to get the upper hand and as such Adams imbues the issue with a strong sense of family and determination. Adams’ grip on the familial bond between all the Speedsters has been paramount to the story right from the outset. The family BBQ feels like so long ago but was really only seconds in real time. My how things can change so quickly in Flash-land!

The story continues to allow room for each of the heroes to take the spotlight by splitting them up in to smaller groups. There’s plenty of time for Barry and Wally to fulfil their leadership roles, whilst Wallace, Bart and Jay are all still heavily involved in the mission to make a dent in the Fraction.

It all builds to a perfectly heartbreaking finale as the knife twists once again. Adams is certainly taking us on an emotional roller coaster with each issue as well as this arc as a whole.

The team of Cruz, Dias and Guerrero continues to bring some of the best looking Flash issues I’ve ever seen. Once again, Adams’ script this month gives the whole team a chance to flex their creative muscles with a mix of grand scale action and smaller character beats. This is, by far, one of the best creative teams in comic books today.

    Verdict

Part four of “The One-Minute War” is blockbuster stuff. As the Flash-Family goes on the offensive, Adams and co. takes the reader on a huge emotional journey which leads to a dramatic and potentially life-changing cliffhanger.
