    Synopsis

    Review

In this special one shot edition we take a bit of a step back in time as we look into the past lives of fan favourite characters Andros and Zhan and discover what powers them on and what makes them the Rangers they now are.

We take an emotional exploration into the past lives of the two men right the way back to childhood nd the personal anguish they went through from the kidnap of Andros’s sister and the destruction of their homes including remaining family including the one place where Zhan could finally call home, to finally working through training together becoming who they were ment to be, Power Rangers. This is what they dreamed of but Andros however doesn’t hold the same passion as Andros as his only drive in life is finding his sister in the hope that she is still alive, Zhan is determined to become the best Ranger he can be and determined to use his elite training to good use and become the best Power Ranger he can be.

This is a hard hitting and emotional story about anguish and self exploration, the step back in the story has really added a different level to the overall story arc of the multiverse written expertly by Marguerite Bennett as she creates deeper characters of Andros and Zhan which is hard to do considering they are such well known characters but Marguerite has hit the spot, if anything she has improved them. This one shot seems a step away from the action packed norm for Rangers comics however still feels important to the growth of the multiverse.

The illustrations of the book from the combined talents of Anna Kekovsky Chandra and Giuseppe Cafaro, are a different style to the more bold and bright in your face style that you normally get, this time around the illustrations seem more refined and somewhat scaled back and an almost anime feel to it and it works well giving the book a more deeper feel to it, you still have some of the action style in parts of the flash backs but like the story this book is a style in itself.

    Verdict

An emotional and empassioned story that builds the characters of Andros and Zhan and adds depth, if this one shot has anything to go by I’m interested to see what else is coming from the multiverse.
