Zack Snyder’s REBEL MOON Enters Production

It has been quite a decent few weeks for Zack Snyder’s Netflix Project, Rebel Moon. So, here is a round up of everything that we have learned. The major piece of news came from the diector himself who confirmed that on April 19th filming on Rebel Moon had commenced.

In a first look, Snyder shared some images from behind-the-scenes which gave fans a very very small look at the filming process. Two images showed the ins and outs of a spacecraft, while the other image gave us a fantastic look at Djimon Hounsou in costume. Of course, we didn’t get a full look at the costume but you can see some very interesting details. It reminded us very much of the armored world of Krypton in Man of Steel‘s opening scene.

You can check out Snyder’s Tweet below:

Think of Rebel Moon as Zack Snyder’s Star Wars. It was originally intended as a pitch for a new Star Wars movie, but has since been reworked. Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter in July, Snyder said “This is me growing up as an Akira Kurosawa fan, a Star Wars fan,” so audiences can expect Rebel Moon to be heavily influenced by Kurosawa’s classic films and George Lucas’ amazing world of Space Wizards and planet-killing space stations.

It appears as though Snyder hopes to spawn a universe out of Rebel Moon, just like he did with Army of the Dead. The director confirmed that he has spent the last couple of years fleshing out the universe surrounding Rebel Moon so it’s safe to assume that the film will contain some potential threads that will lead to additional sequels or spin offs. Only time will tell.

In addition to Rebel Moon entering production, the film has seen many new stars join the cast. Cary Elwes (The Princess Bride) and Corey Stoll (Antman) are the most recent to join. Michiel Huisman and Thespian Alfonso Herrera also joined Snyder’s intergalactic blockbuster. The cast also includes Sofia Boutella, Charlie Hunnam, Djimon Hounsou, Doona Bae, Ray Fisher, Rupert Friend and Stuart Martin.

Rebel Moon will center on a young woman called Kora who embarks on a journey to seek aid from neighbouring planets after her peaceful colony is attacked by a fierce dictator called Belisarius.

Are you looking forward to Rebel Moon? Let us know your thoughts in the comments, and be sure to keep your eyes peeled for more exciting bits of news as Snyder’s next adventure continues.
