PERSONA 4 ARENA ULTIMAX Out Now On PS4 & Nintendo Switch

Get ready to rumble! In Persona 4 Arena Ultimax, face off against old friends and foes in the P-1 CLIMAX and experience the action-packed continuation of the Persona 4 Golden story. Persona 4 Arena Ultimax is available now on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and Steam. The stakes are Ultimate, the tension is Maximum, the fight is…the ULTIMAX! Experience the latest entry into the beloved Persona 4 series with a thrilling fighting twist. Join the heroes as they combat an army of Shadows in the P-1 CLIMAX!

Originally launching in arcades in 2013, and then on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in 2014, this updated edition comes with a wide variety of changes, including updated visuals that really make the game pop. But that’s not all. Check out some of the additional changes fans can expect to see when they pick up their own copy of Persona 4 Arena Ultimax.

    • Ultimax Version – Includes all previously released Persona 4 Arena Ultimax content, including the original Persona 4 Arena story
    • A Deep Roster of Playable Characters – Persona 3 fan-favorites and “Shadow” versions offer a range of fighting styles to choose from
    • Dual audio – Choose between Japanese and English VO

Like most fighting games, Persona 4 is absolutely stacked with possibilities. Not only are there plenty of characters to play as, but they all come with their own individual fighting styles and unique Persona which can be used to devastate the opponent. You’ll get to join the battlefield as characters such as Sho Minazuki, Teddie, Yu Narukami, Labrys, and many more.

I was lucky enough to give Persona 4 Arena Ultimax a whirl just before it launched and as someone who isn’t typically accustomed to fighting games… I was pretty worried. However, before we jumped into Persona, there was a little treat waiting for us in London. To prepare for the challenge ahead, it was decided that we needed a little… training. That’s right, we were thrown into a literal boxing ring where we experienced an intense training session with some brilliant personal trainers who tested us, punished us, and pushed us to the max. Achy, sweaty, and hungry for more, once we had completed our session and enjoyed some well deserved sushi the real challenge started. We were thrown once again into the ring, the digital ring, where we got our hands on Persona 4 Arena Ultimax .

As someone who is still somewhat new to the Persona franchise, I had a hard time figuring out what character to go for first. After a bit of time studying the incredible variety of characters, things became a lot simpler. Throughout my session, I got to play as quite a few characters: Akihiko Sanada, Aigis, Yukari Takeba, Yu Narukami, and Sho Minazuki. I absolutely adored all of the designs and quirks each character had, they all felt and looked completely unique. Not only did they look unique, but each fighter played differently. I was bombared with an array of moves, weapons, Personas, and styles. While daunting at first, it was actually incredibly easy to pick up.

Did it involve randomly pressing every button and hoping for the best? Absolutely. Did it help? Of course. Gone are the days of tutorials and instruction manuals. The best way to learn is to jump right in and I think that’s why I had so much fun.

I had no idea what the characters were capable of, so seeing some of the insane moves and heavy combo chains on the big screen was very awesome. Each fight was different which added a level of difficulty since you had to adapt according to your opponents character. We had some really fun combinations which actually forced my to change my tactics. If I’m up against a character who excels at long-ranged combat, how can I- a character with a sword- deal the most damage? So, that was an interesting dynamic. Of course, it was super fun to play. With a mixture of stunning and vibrant visuals against some really cool backgrounds, Persona 4 is a adrenaline inducing experience that forces you to experiment and strategize.

With each round running differently, fans won’t have any issues regarding boredom. I played for an hour and there was still so many elements that remained untouched. Although, after facing a small percentage of the game it made purchasing it even easier. Now I have the entire thing to explore and I intend to train, persevere, and explore Persona 4 Arena Ultimax until I am a worthy opponent. As a newcomer to the world of fighting games, I still have a long way to go. But Persona 4 feels like a fantastic starting point. It’s fun, accessible, addicting, and adventurous. Let’s dive into it.
