    Synopsis

After the events of Nubia & the Amazons, the dangers of Doom’s Doorway have found their way to Man’s World and garnered the attention of not one, but all three Amazonian tribes. The Bana-Mighdall consider it to be a weakness in the current regime and have decided to return to the shores of Themyscira to stake their claim over the island. Little do they know, the Esquecida are not far behind, but instead looking for help to combat the evil unleashed. Tempers rise and swords are brandished as the women argue about the best course of action. Now Queen Nubia must show them all the way to peace by calling for one of the most famous Amazon traditions…the Contest. Who among them is worthy of leading them into the future? Find out as the bravest, wisest, and fiercest warriors compete to be champion of all the Amazons!

    Review

As a DC fan there is something inherently rewarding about seeing a new take on a familiar world. This is exactly what Trial of the Amazons presents itself as in its opening pages. A Wonder Woman story but one which shines the spotlight on her home and her people.

Queen Nubia is at the helm, on the throne and it’s down to her to guide the Amazon tribes to peace, tensions rise as the different tribal factions come together but Queen Nubia needs to come up with a solution and fast, that solution is The Contest to find the one strongest Amazon that can save the worlds, however there are others in the group that have different ideas and may well have bad intentions.

Fans of Wonder Woman will not be disappointed. Trial of The Amazons is an intensely written story full of empowerment and all out action mixed with a bit of mystery for good measure. The writing team have written a truly inspirational story one that many DC fans will find relatable and definitely enjoyable, it has pretty much everything you would need from a comic story.

As is norm for DC art teams they set the bar for what to expect from comics and Trial of The Amazons is no different, the artwork is something to be seen, captivating illustrations allowing you the reader to feel like you’re actually there experiencing the Contest for yourself, immersive illustrations combined with empowering story writing this is definitely a story not to be missed.

    Verdict

A much deserved five stars. Trial of the Amazons has everything: an empowering story; striking visuals and captivating characters.
