Almost sixty years ago, Gerry and Sylvia Anderson co-created Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons – and delighted sci-fi fans for 32 episodes. The show, set in 2068, saw Captain Scarlet and his Spectrum agents face off against the villainous Captain Black – and now, fans will get to celebrate his adventures in style.
On 10 July 2027 (otherwise known as ‘Captain Scarlet Day,’) the Brighton Toy & Model Museum will be opening their ‘Captain Scarlet 60’ exhibition. In partnership with Anderson Entertainment, this loving celebration will run for twelve months – and includes exclusive and rare memorabilia.
Co-created by a team which includes museum trustee and super-fan Steve Crump OBE, graphic designer Malcolm Garrett MBE and the Anderson Entertainment team, the exhibition will be a shrine to the prestige of the show. In a statement, leader of the Anderson Entertainment team Jamie Anderson, said:
“We’re delighted to be partnering with the Brighton Toy and Model Museum on this exciting exhibition – one which will bring together a raft of Captain Scarlet exhibits… illustrating just how influential Captain Scarlet has been on pop culture, fashion and music like never before.”
And even though the show has attracted celebrity fans such as Jonathan Ross and Simon Cowell, every fan has the chance to participate in this attraction. In a statement, Jan Etches, manager of the Brighton Toy & Model Museum, said:
“We have a raft of materials we want to add to, so we are asking the public to get in touch if you have any Captain Scarlet memorabilia, toys or models… We’d love to hear your experiences of the show.”
