Joker was already tipped for big things when fans learned it would have its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival. Over the weekend the festival drew to a close with its annual awards ceremony celebrating the best of the festival. Joker took home the Gold Lion prize for Best Film, the highest honest of the festival. Warner Bros. is gearing up for the release of Doctor Sleep in November. The film serves as a sequel to Stanley Kubrick’s The Shining and the Stephen King novel on which it was based. In news that surprises absolutely no one, IT: Chapter Two failed to meet it’s predecessor at the box office this weekend. The Andy Muschietti sequel garnered an estimated $91M this time around, from an absolutely huge 4,570 screens. This represents a reasonable drop of 26% from the first movies opening weekend of $123.4M, while still accounting for 75% of all tickets sales for the Top 10 movies at the box office.
