The movie, which reportedly cost around $50m to produce, faced stiff competition being released directly between Warner Bros. Shazam! and Disney’s Avengers: Endgame. This past weekend we were at MCM Comic Con London. One of the best parts of attending a show like this is getting to meet some of the indie creatives who have stands in Artists Alley. It’s been a public holiday weekend in both the US and UK this past weekend, not a bad time to open one of your biggest movies of the year at the box office. Despite lukewarm reviews (read ours here) Disney’s Aladdin has opened with an impressive $207m worldwide. Bare with us a little as reporting does factor in the public holidays.
