Warner Bros. has a huge reason to celebrate this weekend as Aquaman has crossed $1bn at the worldwide box office! In North America Aquaman has been dethroned by STXFilms’s The Upside. Its box office fell 44% from last weekend to gross a further $17M. The Upside took the top spot with $19M. Aquaman’s North American gross is now around $278.8M. Internationally Jame Wan’s underwater adventure took a further $27.8M this weekend. Its international total is now an impressive $732.4M. The DC Universe crew are currently hard at work on the upcoming Swamp Thing series. But thoughts are now beginning to turn to their next live-action venture: Stargirl. Heroic Hollywood is reporting that veteran DC director David Nutter will be behind the camera for the series pilot. Nutter started his DC journey working as a Director of Photography on Smallville. He went on to direct a number of episodes of that show including the first half of “Absolute Justice” which featured Stargirl in a guest role.
