After a nervous weekend the first numbers for Shazam! are in. The movie has opened to an estimated (and respectful) $158.7M worldwide. The David F. Sanberg directed pictures bowed with around $53.4M at the domestic box office, with the added $3.3M from pre-Thursday previews that figure is pumped up to a running total of $56.7M. China leads the way at the international box office with an estimated $31M. The movie hasn’t played quite as hugely as expected in the market. Word of mouth on the more child friendly humour appears to have pushed the numbers down across the weekend. Nevertheless…

Synopsis Tensions rise as Zelda and Father Blackwood’s union draws near. Amid the chaos, Sabrina greets a familiar vision and Ambrose uncovers a dark truth. Review We’ve reached the point in Chilling Adventures of Sabrina Part 2 which, if it were a network show, would be called a mid-season finale. In all honesty I felt like I was watching a season finale though. The series slams its foot on the gas and moves at breakneck speed with a wedding, a murder and a funeral all in one episode. There’s so much to take in that I felt slightly bewildered on…

Synopsis Sabrina, Theo, Roz and others attempt to navigate the lines between fact, fiction and fate when a mysterious stranger sets up shop in Cerberus Books. Review Coming off the back of the excellent “Lupercalia” episode I wondered where Chilling Adventures of Sabrina would go next. Of anything which I had expected an episode delving deep into the psyche of the lead characters for a “what if?” style episode was not top of the list. That being said “Doctor Cerberus’s House of Horror” does warrant some interesting results. It feels a little like watching a live-action version of a classic…

Synopsis Love and lust sweep through Greendale as Harvey surprises Roz with a sweet gift, and Sabrina explores a romantic ritual… and her feelings for Nick. Review Remember that episode of Buffy where she and Riley got stuck in his frat house and the sexual energy charged the house and made everyone crazy? Well this episode of Chilling Adventures of Sabrina is lusty but it’s definitely not THAT lusty. “Lupercalia” is instead an exploration of much more of the magical mythology behind the series. Though there are some mixed results this is definitely one of the most interesting episodes in…

Synopsis A sinister guest visits Spellman Mortuary. Theo faces a cast of cruel critics, and Roz and Harvey pursue an extra-steamy school assignment. Review It’s time for the Dark Lord to make good on his promise to come to Sabrina when he needed her. Back when Sabrina signed the Book of the Beast it felt like a moment of desperation for the character. With her world falling apart around her, albeit by the manipulations of Lillith (Michelle Gomez), she felt she had no choice. When the Dark Lord told her he would come to her when he needed her it…
