We’ve been waiting what feels like decades for news on a sequel to 2016’s Doctor Strange. Now a new rumour from Deadline postulates that official news could be coming our way soon.
During their CinemaCon presentations Disney failed to announce any Marvel Studio releases for 2020. We know the studio is unlikely to skip an entire year whilst the momentum is so hot in the wake of Infinity War and Endgame.
The report notes “Not revealed — what the Marvel movies will be for 2020 for the new merger. Word is that will come to reveal itself after Avengers: Endgame opens at the end of the month. Rumors have been that it’s Black Widow standalone movie and Doctor Strange 2.”
It’s hoped that original director Scott Derrickson will return alongside star Benedict Cumberbatch for the sequel. The original movie grossed a respectable $667.7M back in 2016.
