It’s no secret that J.J. Abrams was not initially set to direct the film which would become Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. The third film in the latest trilogy was originally set to be directed by Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom’s Colin Trevorrow. Now The Rise of Skywalker scriptwriter Chris Terrio (Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice) has commented on whether elements of Trevorrow’s film were retained for J.J’s version of the film. Disney continues to dominate the box office this week as Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker continues to hold on to the top spot. The ninth film in the Skywalker Saga brought in an estimated $33.7m over the weekend, dipping -53% but taking its domestic total to an impressive $450m. It crosses that figure within 17 days of release. Internationally, Skywalker brought in a further $50.5m, taking its international gross to a whopping $468m. Director Taika Waititi has revealed that his second Thor movie, titled Love and Thunder, will begin filming in Australia in August 2020. Appearing at the BAFTA Tea Party in LA, Waitit discussed the upcoming production with Variety. The crew will be moving to Australia in April to begin prep with cameras set to roll in August. Though the shoot could be effected by the awful bushfires which are currently ravaging the country. We had anticipated that Matt Reeves The Batman would begin filming in the coming weeks. Owners of the huge hangers in Cardington, outside London, have been teasing the construction of a huge cathedral set which is to be used for a funeral. But yesterday we were all taken by surprise when set photos surfaced from a central London shoot. A huge congratulations to Joaquin Phoenix and the crew of Joker on picking up two Golden Globe Awards tonight. The ceremony, which is has now drawn to a close, saw the Warner Bros. release picking up the Best Actor in a Drama award for Phoenix as well as a much deserved win for Hildur Guðnadóttir for Best Score.
