Disney continues to dominate the box office this week as Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker continues to hold on to the top spot.
The ninth film in the Skywalker Saga brought in an estimated $33.7m over the weekend, dipping -53% but taking its domestic total to an impressive $450m. It crosses that figure within 17 days of release.
Internationally, Skywalker brought in a further $50.5m, taking its international gross to a whopping $468m. If you’re keeping up with the maths that means that globally the film has now grossed $918.9m meaning that it is sure to cross $1 billion this week.
A huge congratulations to J.J. Abrams, Disney and Lucasfilm on the film’s continued success.
https://youtu.be/MWiqKZLeK_0The film will see the return of Daisy Ridley (Rey), Adam Driver (Kylo Ren), John Boyega (Finn), Oscar Isaac (Poe Dameron), Lupita Nyong’o (Maz Kanata), Domhnall Gleeson (General Hux), Kelly Marie Tran (Rose Tico), Joonas Suotamo (Chewbacca), and Billie Lourd (Lieutenant Connix).
Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker), Anthony Daniels (C-3PO), and Billy Dee Williams (Lando Calrissian) will also all return to reprise their iconic roles from previous films.
The late Carrie Fisher will appear via previously unreleased archive footage.
