Today US TV network FOX announced it’s lineup for the 2017/18 season. Aside from shifting Gotham to Thursdays at 8pm the biggest announcement was that new Marvel show The Gifted would be joining the network on Monday nights. Taking Gotham’s old spot The Gifted will air Monday’s at 9pm. FOX also debuted a new teaser poster for the series which you can see below. Good news for fans of the various DC Comics TV series this morning. First up is an update on the Black Lightning project. Originally housed at FOX the series moved to The CW earlier this year when positive buzz started to build. We’ve now heard via the network that Black Lightning has been picked up for a full series. No news yet on an episode order but this is great news for the expansion of the Arrow-verse. ‘Power Rangers’ finally comes to China this weekend. After topping out at $84.7m in the US the films global total currently sits at $135.4m. It’s not the result that studio Lionsgate were hoping for but it’s by no means a disaster. With China releasing this week and Japan dropping on July 15 there’s a hope that the franchise homeland might be its saviour. In readiness for the Chinese release a swathe of new posters have been released. EW has broken the news of the new series entitled Judge Dredd: Mega-City One today and brought us a first look poster. The character was last seen on the big screen in 2012’s Dredd starring Karl Urban in the lead role. With the release of Blade Runner 2049 still five months away the marketing machine is not yet at full speed. Whilst summer blockbusters continue to flood the market with trailers and TV spots films due later in the year lie in waiting. Yesterday Warner Bros. (US) and Columbia Pictures (via Sony) released the films second trailer. Clocking in a little over two minutes this trailer packs a visual punch. To say it’s visually stunning is putting it mildly. Wonder Woman wasn’t the only superhero bringing some new footage to the MTV Movie & TV Awards. Sony/Marvel also brought the first official clip from Spider-Man: Homecoming. After releasing several short teasers yesterday the final trailer for Wonder Woman is here! Perhaps the most action packed of all the films trailers this one expands on a lot of scenes that have been teased in previous videos. There’s plenty more of the action from both Themyscira and also from the WW1 battlefield. Marvel Studios are once again celebrating as Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 has opened to the tune of $145m at the US box office. The film has grossed an average $33,368 in each of the 4,347 cinemas in which it was shown putting it 54% higher than the opening of the first film. Internationally the film is continuing to play well taking an estimated $124m in its second weekend. This takes its international total to $238m for a worldwide total of $428m after 13 days of release.
