From the outset fans have been clamouring for Venom to be R-rated. The characters own violent nature in comics easily lends itself to a horror-inspired, gore fest. Rumours are going crazy this week regarding the planned reshoots for X-Men: Dark Phoenix. First we heard from Montreal based news site LaPresse that the film would be spending around three months in the city for reshoots. The films initial shoot took a little under four months. This rumour lead many to believe that almost the entire movie was being reshot, something relatively unheard of even in todays Hollywood environment. An interesting new rumour has surfaced regarding when The Batman may start production. ComicBookMovie is carrying a story from Pursue News (which is sadly behind a pay wall) stating that Matt Reeves movie will enter production in “Spring 2019”. Perhaps more interestingly the site is reporting that Ben Affleck is now officially out of the picture to play Batman BUT will stay on as a producer. The Oscars aren’t known for recognising science-fiction or superhero movies. Outside of the special effects, make-up and sound categories these types of films are entirely snubbed by the awards ceremony. The judging board behind the Oscars as now decided to add a new category to help these kinds of films get more awards show exposure. From next year the ceremony will include the “Outstanding Achievement in Popular Film” award. Aquaman director James Wan has been discussing the reasons why he decided not to include other members of the Justice League in the movie.
