Marvel has released the first clip from Ant-Man and The Wasp! With the film releasing very soon in the US (and a little later in the UK) the promo campaign is about to go in to overdrive. The below clip expands on a scene that’s appeared in most of the films trailers so far. It’s a fight sequence featuring Evangelina Lilly as Wasp set in a kitchen. Today Deadline is reporting that Gal Gadot might just be turning up at San Diego Comic Con in July with a little surprise for fans. With Marvel Studios sitting out on Hall H this year the floor is wide open for DC Films to make a splash. We already know we’ll be getting the first trailer for Aquaman and it’s likely we’ll see the first footage from Shazam also. No news on what she might be bringing with her, however. Following the lacklustre performance of Solo: A Star Wars Story it seems there’s a shakeup over a Disney/Lucasfilm. New rumours point to the studio halting all plans for future spin-off movies. Though we have no official confirmation rumours from Collider are stating that production teams on Obi-Wan Kenobi and the potential Boba Fett movie have been disbanded. It’s unclear at this stage whether this means Disney is considering its options more clearly. Or whether they are abandoning the A Star Wars Story brand altogether. The saga continues…. As we had expected Disney has prepared a further counter bid to combat Comcast’s $65 billion cash bid to take over 20th Century Fox. As Fox executives continue to consider the various offers ahead of their upcoming board meeting Disney was preparing to throw a spanner in the works. The axe has quietly swung on two of Marvel’s X-Men series in the last day. X-Men: Gold and X-Men: Blue will both be coming to an end in the coming months. This leaves X-Men: Red the sole surviving team in current continuity. Both series come to an end in September with their issue #36. The news was revealed in the release of Marvel’s September solicitations. X-Men Gold #35 and #36 and X-Men Blue #35 and #36 all ship in September. It seems the success of Star Trek: Discovery for CBS and Netflix may have triggered a resurgence in the franchise TV universe. Several mainstream news sites (including Variety) are reporting that new show runner Alex Kurtzman has signed a multi-year deal to supervise the expansion of the Discovery universe. This role will see him oversee the development of new series and ‘other content’ set within the Star Trek universe. Variety reports on four potential series that Kurtzman could be overseeing. Despite stiff competition Black Panther swept the board at this weeks MTV Movie Awards. Whilst Avengers: Infinity War was nominated in the Best Movie, Best Villain and Best Fight categories the film walked away with nothing. The night belonged to Chadwick Boseman and the cast of Black Panther as they walked away with four awards between them. The film picked up the award for Best Movie, Best Hero and Best Performance for Chadwick Boseman and Best Villain for Michael B. Jordan. Lucifer has been saved! In an eleventh hour deal Netflix has swopped in and picked up the series for a fourth season. The streaming service brokered a deal with studio Warner Bros. and FOX TV within 24hrs of the contract deadline. Had a deal not been reached by June 16 the actors contracts would have relinquished and allowed them to move on to new projects. The Netflix incarnation of Lucifer is set to debut in 2019 with 10 new episodes. Those episodes are confirmed to run the standard 43-45mins. Now CNBC is reporting that Disney is preparing a further offer to help secure assets from the deal. Disney is expected to revise its original offer to purchase the majority of 21st Century Fox by adding cash to its bid.
