Prepare to choose your fighter all over again as HBO Max has confirmed that Mortal Kombat II is set to begin streaming from July 24, 2026.
The film features all of the fan-favourite champions, joined by Johnny Cage (Karl Urban), pitted against one another in the ultimate, no-holds barred battle to defeat the dark rule of Shao Kahn that threatens the very existence of the Earthrealm and its defenders.
In case you missed it at the cinema, take a look at the film’s official trailer below:
In our four star review of the film Matt said “Ultimately, despite a few narrative stumbles and a sudden finale, Mortal Kombat II is a brilliant ride that utilises the critiques of the first film and delivers exactly what the fans had wanted. Fans of Mortal Kombat game franchise will absolutely love this film and it’s a solid contender to go up against Street Fighter when that drops towards the end of the year.”
A version of Mortal Kombat II with American Sign Language (ASL) will also stream exclusively on HBO Max the same day, performed by ASL Dubber Justin Perez and directed by Rosa Lee Timm (“Sinners with BASL,” “Minecraft with ASL”). The interpretation for this film will feature Visual Vernacular, a unique sign language form that combines elements of ASL, mime, facial expressions and body movements to convey highly visual stories.
The film stars Karl Urban, Adeline Rudolph, Jessica McNamee, Josh Lawson, Ludi Lin, Mehcad Brooks, Tati Gabrielle, Lewis’s Tan, Damon Herriman, Chin Han, Tadanobu Asano, Joe Taslim, and Hiroyuki Sanada.
