The Crunchyroll Showcase at Anime Expo 2026 just closed out with a huge annoucement for the next step of the hit anime Solo Leveling as Hunter Sung Jinwoo is officially taking his journey to the big screen.
Crunchyroll and Aniplex have announced Solo Leveling: Beyond the System, a brand-new cinematic movie that will adapt the next chapter of Jinwoo’s story. The film is set to pick up directly after the events of the anime’s second season finale

To close out the panel, Sung Jinwoo’s English voice actor, Aleks Le, took the stage to present to the audience with its very first look at the film. The reveal successfully confirmed that development is actively underway while giving a brief, tantalising glimpse into what lies ahead for the world’s most formidable hunter.
A-1 Pictures will return to handle the animation production, ensuring the franchise’s trademark fluid, high-octane battle sequences translate perfectly to a cinema format. Additionally, Crunchyroll has confirmed it will be co-producing the feature film alongside Aniplex, Netmarble, D&C Media, and Kakao Piccoma.
Solo Leveling is not the first time a anime series gets an entire arc adapted into a movie, Demon Slayer, Chainsaw Man both also had specific story canon arcs done as one cinamatic movie and not across an entire season of television.
Solo Leveling tells the story of Sung Jinwoo, a man initially known as the world’s weakest hunter. After being brutally slaughtered by monsters in a high-ranking dungeon, Jinwoo woke up with the System—a mysterious, video-game-like interface only he can see that allows him to level up his strength and abilities without limit. Driven by a desire to protect his loved ones, he is inspired to discover the dark secrets behind his powers and the terrifying dungeons that spawned them.
The rise of Solo Leveling has been nothing short of incredible since Crunchyroll and Aniplex first announced the adaptation back at Anime Expo 2022. Following its Winter 2024 premiere, the first season took the anime world by storm, ultimately taking home the coveted Anime of the Year award at the 2025 Crunchyroll Anime Awards. The story continued to capture global attention with the release of Season 2, subtitled Arise from the Shadow, in Winter 2025, solidifying the franchise as a modern streaming legend.
Solo Leveling: Beyond the System does not currently have a release date but we can expect a late 2027/early 2028 release. Seasons 1 and 2 are available on the Crunchyroll app.
