The countdown to a brand-new era of piracy has officially begun. Netflix and WIT Studio have finally set sail with a stunning first look at the re-animated East Blue saga of the legendary One Piece anime. The ambitious remake is officially set to premiere globally on Netflix in February 2027.

Produced by the powerhouse WIT Studio—famous for Attack on Titan and Spy x Family—this remake isn’t just a simple upgrade though as the project is designed from the ground up to give Eiichiro Oda’s legendary story a streamlined, modern retelling with tighter storytelling with far less filler and a beautiful new coat of paint.

The first season is confirmed to consist of seven episodes with a total runtime of around 300 minutes, pacing the narrative through the foundational storylines of the East Blue Arc and concluding with the iconic Baratie Arc, where Luffy and the crew first cross paths with the Straw Hats’ future cook, Sanji and the deadly Don Krieg.
The creative powerhouse assembled behind these sails are guaranteed to delivery something special with the Attack on Titan veteran Masashi Koizuka directing the series, with Hideaki Abe serving as assistant director. Alongside them, we also have Kyoji Asano and Takotoshi Honder serving as the character designers and chief animation duties, while Taku Kishimoto tackles the series overall composition.

With only eight months left until the February 2027 launch, the hype train is officially leaving the station. While fans dissect this new trailer, all eyes are now turning toward this years One Piece Day in August for further sight and knowledge on this remake.
